Local Planning Activities

Thriving Livable La Crosse

The city of La Crosse has joined four other communities in Wisconsin and more than 400 in the country as an AARP Age-Friendly Community. A new initiative--Thriving Livable La Crosse--will support this designation as the 16 local steering committee members and 5 AARP leaders work to ensure La Crosse is accessible to everyone regardless of age.

The initiative will take up to two years to develop an action plan aimed at improvements to eight "livability domains" that influence the quality of life for aging residents:

Outdoor spaces and buildings

Social participation

Respect and social inclusion

Civic participation and employment

Communication and information

Community support and health services

Stay tuned for more information as this initiative develops.
